This latest review so fried my brain that I forgot to even note here that I finished it last night. Feast on the splendiferous glory of a failing grade, and pardon me while I take a day or two to recover.
Because I'm not feeling like the next one is going to make me feel better. Porn industry, why do you keep abusing this story?
I chuckled when I realized that the name of the protagonist in this one was most likely an intentional nod to Gillian Anderson, one of the stars of "The X-Files." Oh, unsubtle pop culture references, how I love them. (And in a story already full of the sort of "science" that makes "CSI" and "Bones" look comparatively accurate, no less.)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, awesome review! I'm a longtime fan of the Phantom Project, but only just realized you have a blog that people can comment on. Cool stuff!
Oh, man. It didn't even occur to me to throw X-Files under the bus, too, but you're totally right.
DeleteNormally I can look at a book and say, "Well, it was contemporary, so at least there's no time period failure." But this book stepped up to the plate to change that.
