Holy smokes, I have been gone longer than ever before. I'm sorry for the long radio silence - apparently getting married involves a lot of time and effort that I was not previously aware of. Since I don't have to do it again, however, I'm pretty confident in saying that that, at least, isn't going to get in the way again!

I wish I had something awesome to tell you about on my first day back, but instead I just have a review of a sadly terrible book. Oh, well - we'll keep our chins up for the next time!

  1. I read "No Return" years ago when it was posted on FanFiction.net, and clearly the author made no positive changes between then and self-publishment because it's still just... gross.

But what do I know? I'm just a girl like every other, waiting for my stalker with megabucks to literally steal me away from my life and treat me like a piece of property.

    1. "Gross" is a good adjective for it. I'm sure it doesn't mean to be the kind of terrible it is... but, oh, god.

  2. Apparently the author is actually a romance writer called Christine Pope, since they've put out a 'revised' edition of No Return in June. I found out since I entered a giveaway for one of her new books under the other name and now I'm not sure I'd like to win considering the kind of thing she classes as romance as witnessed in this book. It's a Beauty and the Beast-esque storyline too. I have a bad feeling about this...

    1. I actually have that book on my list! Is it the same one, then? I haven't cracked it yet, but I thought i might be a different book with the same title (since it's just borrowed from Webber's lyrics anyway).

    2. Yep, according to Amazon UK it's the same book. You can see on the cover 'Christine Pope writing as J.C. Silesen' if you enlarge it. Also the summary is exactly the same plotline and character names.

So now you have the choice of throwing it away or enduring it again to see just how revised it might be.

    3. Well, damn, I looked again and you're right. I'm glad the prospect of deciding whether or not to look at the revision for that is far away in my future.
